I hope we can all agree launching a console at $600.00 is a VERY BAD idea and showed some arrogance on Sony's part. That and they felt they really did any good games and it would sell. They have since started lowering the price and pumping out good games and the sales have followed suit.
As for MS and WII going down. MS has price cuts, a great library of games and great 3rd party support and WII is still red hot.
I think Sony is definitely on the up swing but I think all consoles this generation will do well
PS3, WII and 360 all great systems depends on what type of console player you are.
