They say in the video that they weren't really feeling good about a straight HD version of Banjo after they started making it.

I mean they could have evolved the series withouth completely tearing it apart. But I respect the ballzy and risky decision to try and do so. Takes courage.
And yes most of the Rare team has left. The founders, most of the Goldeneye team, ect. Now the Banjo team I had never heard about but most of the other core teams ahve either joined Zoonami, Free Radical, Nintendo, ect. But I new there were still a decent bit left just not from most of the major teams.
