Yes, they can if the penalty was imposed in the last 5 laps of the race.

You can appeal to have a time penalty after the race instead of a drivethrough, but not to have it overturned.

 

 

No, the rule clearly states that if the penalty is commited in the last 5 laps, instead of being given a drive-through the driver is charged with 25 seconds, and is possible to appeal it. And I hope the appeal is succesful, this stupid decision shouldn't tarnish this excellent championship, even Niki Lauda called it "the worst judgement in the history of F1 "

Who, me or Niki Lauda? I've already stated that I think the penalization is unfair and that the FIA is clearly benefiting Ferrari. As for Lauda, I dunno, it may be a bit of exaggeration (it probably is, as unfair as this thing is, there has to be one more unfair at some point of history), but I think he got the basics right


I would go for both....
