@shio - See, there's the problem we're having. You're talking creativity, I'm talking technicality. The whole thing with making goofy placements work isn't anything complicated; it's just something that requires some creativity.

Which is the only thing Spore's got going for it - incredible creativity.

As Vagabond said, it is brilliant. But it's the concept and the ideas that are brilliant. The actual construction as a game is less so. It doesn't flow well, and frankly, with how little you actually see your creatures by the time you get to the Civilization stage, the argument of "creating a customized race which you have a degree of affection for" is null.

Like I said though, I expect these concerns will be entirely fixed with the next iteration.
