Global warming.

And that explains the abnormally quiet (hell, almost dead silent) 06 and 07 hurricane seasons?

We've had bad hurrican seasons the entire century.  The past decade hasn't been much worse than the 1960s, and I don't think you could explain away the intensity of storms in the 1960s as being a result of global warming.

Global cooling was actually the worry of that day. The fact that we are still no where near the nightmare of the 05 season should show that global warming alone cannot hope to explain hurricanes. They ran out of names in 05 and we haven't even hit K.
