| Impulsivity said: If cheap sells best why is the 360, post price cut, still not in the top 10 OR the top 20 on Amazon? The PS3 and Wii are always up there, but no 360 at all (in fact the highest 360, the arcade, is even behind the 150 dollar Gears of War 2 lancer). Some people are stupid or bad at math, for those people "Wow 200 dollars for a 360" will work. Those who can do math will look at a 200 dollar 360 and think "well I'd have to pay 50 dollars per year to go online, 100 for wifi (if I don't want to run ethernet all over the house), 100+ dollars for a tiny 20GB hard drive add on (maybe 100 dollars or a 60GB now, yay) and it still won't play blu ray or do anything else the PS3 can do". arcade+HD+Online+wifi=450 dollars, and thats with a smaller HD then the PS3 comes with standard. It's a worse deal and I think most consumers know that (especially in Europe) In other news the Kia Rio is the cheapest car on the market at 10,000 dollars but is also one of the worst selling because it sucks. The camary is a very good seller, far better then the kia, but also is twice as much with a lot more features then the Rio. Cheap isn't always the winner. Plus if people REALLY want cheap, there's the PS2 which I bet will be 99 dollars for the holidays or the current price with more bundled games. |
The $200 will mostly appeal to parents who are buying consoles for kids. Once $250 Wii is gone, are they going to buy $400 PS3 along with $60 LBP and $30 Rachet and Clank (its players choice now right?) for $490 plus tax, or are they going to get $200 Xbox 360 with $40 Viva Pinata 2 and $40 BK nuts and bolts for $280 plus tax?
