It's something that will highly bother the kids. Some judges like to pull that kind of thing.
It's the same kind of way a parent might punish his kids.
Stay out past curfew? No videogames for a week. etc.
It's really not unreasonable.
There better of been some state mandated counciling as well however, as killing defenseless animals is a major warning sign of someone being a violent sociopath.
