Wouldn't it be better just to abandon New Orleans and cut your losses? I mean it's just not a good place to build!

I mean I know it has important cultural status, but surely the cost of the last hurricane was astronomical?

 

Think of not only the economic value of New Orleans but the personal sentiment and cultural history.  I mean this is one of the greatest cities in America if not #1 itself when it comes to things like that.  And I don't mean to be blunt but would you simply abandon your home and city when it's the only thing you've ever known.  I mean all this might seem silly when thinking about the consequences of it all but people are not going to let New Orleans go until it's completely gone.

Yeah, I guess that's why the netherlands still exists

That said, I'm pretty sure people abandoned their home in Georgia when the Russians came, and from what I remember on the news, New Orleans looked a heck of a lot worse. However if I'm wrong in this I'm sorry, seeing as I haven't been to Georgia or New Orleans! Same situation in a lot of war torn countries, I mean heck, that's why refugees exist!
