| Copycon said: I used to have it a few years ago, it mostly affected my breathing and many times I was sure that I'd suffocate to death. I've been to the emergency ward a few times when it happened when I was alone and far away from home. I still get it sometimes, mostly when I've been drinking alcohol, a lot of coffe or used massive ammounts of tobaco, but I think that I'm better at controlling it these days than I was before.
Edit: I can still get a massive stage fever when I'm about to talk to a group of people but that is nothing compared to the "real" attacks I could get a few years ago. |
Concentrating on my breathing is how it started for me too. I would hyperventilate until I started to lose feeling in my fingers. Luckly, the what is most likely to happen if you hyperventilate enough is that you pass out and start breathing normally again. I had to force myself to breath normally even if the rest of my brain was screaming at me that I was doing it wrong. I progressed from there to thinking if my heart was beating right.
Worst panic attack ever? I tried cocaine. The next day I thought I was going to die (well, worse than any other panic attack). In retrospect, not a smart thing to do.
I give that post a 9.7.
