I don't really condemn any religion personally, I just simply do not like the extremist takes that people have on certain religions. Also, it was a few years ago that she left for Saudi Arabia so I might not remember the interpretation as accurately as I thought I did. But I had always heard that Jihad was purposely "misinterpretted" by extremists that used to it justify what they were doing. I could be completely wrong about that though.

Don't worry. You didn't say anything incorrect. Obviously you weren't insinuating that Muslims want to/told by the Quran to go commit suicide. But there are Muslim extremists out there who use suicide bombing and that's a fact.
I don't know what two meanings Jihad has that Sephiroth is talking about. I learned it as the word Jihad means struggle. Just like the English word struggle Jihad can be used in various contexts, many peaceful which is probably what your friend was trying to explain to you.
