Nope. it can play online.
And I'd disagree with you about willing to pay more to get more: Fast food places are far more popular than fancy restaurants. Even then, dollar menus are more popular than standard fare at fast food places.
WalMarts and Dollar Stores are vastly larger than traditional places that don't focus on the "cheap" and "discount" structure of the price-concious retail store(s). If you believe consumers are willing to pay more to get more, then I don't think you have a grasp on the modern American life.
JGarret - I don't know. We'll find out this Christmas. Microsoft HAS to deal Sony a decicive blow in the US this holiday season to ensure they are 2nd place for quite some time in the future.
If Microsoft can win Holiday 2008 in the US by a large enough margin to keep it competitive with the Playstation 3 worldwide this holiday (ie, 1:1 sales WW), then I think Microsoft can stick it out long enough to stay in the 2nd spot until 2010 or 2011, and have a sucessor launched before the PS3 overtakes the X360.
Back from the dead, I'm afraid.
