Thinking about Bluray, I don't see how it can help microsoft at all.
It would have to be an addon, and it would only be for films.
The most important factor would be cost. I think it's widely accepted that the bluray is one of the reasons for the high cost of the PS3, and we all know that they are making a loss on each PS3 sold.
So, unless Microsoft sold the addon at a loss it would be a expensive piece of hardware which would ultimately make the PS3 look more desirable against the 360 as a gaming and movie watching device. The old I can play games and watch bluray films for £x on PS3 whereas it would cost £y more on 360.
