It wasn't her job to delve into economics. As VP, she gets to play bulldog and go after one of her "specialties", energy. Just as Biden will be talking a lot about foreign policy, one of his specialties.
McCain has a tough role tonight. He's got a lot to say and not a lot if time to say it.
