I was playing Killzone a month or so ago. It hadn't aged well, imo.

Just wait. After a few more hours, the constant "Scatta! GRENADE!" will get quite old. :P

My main complaints were the constant texture pop-in, the pretty bad AI, and the repetitive voice acting in-game.

Try this with the AI: Stay as far away as possible, and just take potshots at them. Most of the time they'll never even notice you, and you can get through the area completely unharmed provided you have enough ammo. Though they do force you into close encounters quite often.

As for the somewhat small, linear levels, that was one of IGN's main complaints about the game. You were supposed to be in this massive war, yet the entire time you felt like there was barely even a battle going on. As you've seen from the videos, the sequel is looking to rectify this, and it's looking to do it quite well. :P

The artstyle of the original was great, though, and it was one of the few console FPSes I ever finished. I love the Helghast. Really, the first Killzone had loads of potential, and it seems they're finally realizing that potential with the ps3's hardware and the financial backing of Sony, and that's why I'm so pumped for the sequel.
