The DS has the highest software sales the Japanese market has ever seen. I don´t understand your point?

Yes the DS has sold a ton of copies of games. Yes, the DS has the largest install base ever in Japan. Neither of those two things means that an individual game is automatically going to sell really well even if it is a good game from a highly reputable developer. That's the point.

That's also why you don't see all devs jump ship from 360/PS3 development to the Wii. Even when the Wii exceeds 50% of the market, you're not going to see this happen.

Ugg. This argument again? THe devs are not jumping ship, but expanding out to the Wii now. Since it takes an average of 2 years, the devs who were on the fence will have begun this year with R&D will announce those titles for the Wii next year and have them released by 2010.  SOME devs are taking titles away from the HD consoles.

You might ask why, and that's simple. What would be seen as low sales for a HD console game can still be a good profit for a Wii game, since you're talking about a several million dollar difference in development cost. A Wii game doesn't HAVE to sell a million copies to be successful, whereas a HD version has to hit at least a mil to break even for some higher end games like GTA4. The population has moved to embrace the Wii, and the devs move to embrace the population. Its as classic as native americans moving  where the buffalo roam off to. Simple survival.
