You prepare a salad... and I don't know what steak carpaccio is but surely you need to cook the steak in some way? (or does carpaccio mean raw steak?)
It is true that in a microwave the food does cook, but I suspect she means the other definition of cook in that to be a cook (proffession) you have make the food by mixing ingredients.
Personally I only use the microwave for defrosting things... usually bread, or occasionally if we had some left over lasagne or something I will heat it in the microwave for the day afters lunch.
