They are missing the point about why the Wii sells, though. It's the simplicity and innovation, not just low cost and casual games.

Like the Wii owners who want to shell out for a HDD but can't because Nintendo is too hard nosed to actually cater to the needs of that segment on their console owners?

Yep, HDD is not necessary.  Gears 2 playability for $199.
