The thing is though they're the ones that *stole* the bad code (even if it was leaked on purpose, they still did it thinking they were stealing it). If I had actually released the bad code for retail then yes, I would be in trouble, I would feel terrible, and I would deserve everything I get.

Though if some leaked copy of the game made its way onto the internet by known sources I would have no problem with peoples hard drives getting destroyed.

So you say that knowingly puting a virus on the net with the intent of harming a select group of individuals is not a crime?

Also for your information, if your company releases the code to the public willingly, it becomes LEGAL downloads....and you are the only one breaking the law.

who said I put it there?  I would never say that.  Some unknown source somehow stole it from our servers and then released.  It's not our fault he happened to find the build that had that terrible bug in it.

oh and piracy is not stealing, there is nothing disapearing, it is copying without authorisation.... like making a fake nike shoe or prada bag. The loss is solely in potential revenues and even then, they are just potential as the end user may never have goten the item at full price.

Completely different discussion that I'm just not going to get into here so don't bother trying.  In short, you couldn't be more wrong.

If for some odd reason you do bother trying to reply, you'll have to come up with an answer for this before I even consider taking you seriously: if piracy isn't stealing, why is it again the law?
