They both believe in putting personal/group security before personal liberty.
McCain believes in economic freedom.
Lieberman is a centrist when it comes to economic issues.

I am a classical liberal, I like personal and economic freedom. Unlike most classical liberals and libertarians, I tend to vote democrat and they tend to vote republican (and call themselves conservative, which we are from dictionary view of the word, but not the Social Science definition).

While I support freedom equally in the U.S. two party system, I find the U.S. modern democrats (Clinton head) much closer to my interest. Republicans say they support freedom, but they are too tied to corporate interest.
