It depends on what you want. I went into Alone in the Dark knowing it had was going to be a mess, so I did my best to laugh of the poorly done stuff and just have fun messing stuff in-game enjoy the more well done moments. If you actually like old-school games that throw you into something and just expect you to wander around and poke stuff till you figure something out you might like it. It's got on a Demo on the XBOX marketplace, so that might be a good start. Love or hate it, it's still a fairly short game, even if you go for all the achievements, so either way you're probably better off renting.
