Edit: i wouldn't be surprised if one happen this winter, seems like all parties want one, but don't want to be the one to cause it. |
Canadian elections generally don't usually happen in Winter. They usually happen in Fall and Spring for the following reasons, among others:
- The odds of having favorable weather which leads to a strong turnout is not likely in Winter;
- Politicians generally don't like to wear big bulky winter clothes (coats, gloves and hats) to political rallys;
- Winter weather makes putting up electoral signs very difficult (lawns are covered in snow, It's hard to climb a pole then put up the sign and tie it with tie wraps when your hands are freezing or you're wearing gloves);
- People basically don't pay much attention to political news during Christmas;
- Peopel pay even less attention in Summer, plus you have vacations.
Like I said, expect an announcement Tuesday, if there is going to be fall elections. (Maybe Wednesday ;) )
