 Carrying around an extra battery just so my portable device can have a decent battery life is not  practical or sensible solution. It adds to the cost of the system, and hurts the portability. I want to eb able to throw it in my pocket and take it out klater and play. I don't want to have to cram a power cord or battery in there as well as my pocket has limited space.

Well, most people have a flightbag with them when they fly, so most people will just use that instead of their pockets.
