My personal tastes (since I know nothing about yours) would say pick up Gears of War 2.
I was pretty excited about Fallout 3 but after I saw the E3 showing I just lost all hype for that game.
I think the thing that bothered me the most was the thing where you stop the game, shoot the enemy in a specific spot, you see an unskippable cut scene of the bullet hitting them in a dramatic way, and then the body explodes. That just blew my mind how they turned a neat feature into something so horrible.
