Probably because the psp is way more powerful. The ds is like a ps1 while the psp is like a ps2.
Ofcourse the psp would use more power.
also to the op. I think the best feature is the rumered ds3 support. How awesome would that be. And the fact that you can now plug it into a regular tv. and play games, whereas before you could only play games on a component supported tv. :P
