@shio: From my preferred German PC games mag “Gamestar”. They gave Spore 79/100 in their latest issue (released this week). I know, 79 is not average, it´s above average, but my expectations regarding the quality are a bit lower now. Their biggest complaint (in-depth review, 6 pages) is that with the Spore Creator (or what it´s called in English) you´ve seen the most interesting part of Spore. Creature construction is deep and brilliant but the game itself is a bit disappointing (more linear, repetitive and tedious than they had expected). The game doesn´t develop its full potential. They gave Spore an award for innovation to honour the idea though, but - as I already said - only 79 for the overall gameplay.
Reminds me a bit of some reviews I read about the first Sims eight years ago. I´m sure Spore will be a huge success anyway.
