After getting beat 31 weeks in a row the 360 came back for a mere 3 weeks and won by a 5k-10k margin, only to get destroyed once again(2 weeks in a row and counting) by an even bigger margin than before.
XBox 2001-2005 (Just 4 years)
XBox 360 2005-2010 (a slight improvement before a quick flop like it's predecessor)
PS1 and PS2, 9 years of sucess each.
PS3 is clearly the better investment of the two. While my neighour has to rebuy all the accessories(that MS makes you buy seperately) in 2010 when the new Xbox comes out(with BD my PS3 already has), my PS3(came with all accessories) will still be entertaining me till 2013-2014, no rush to release a new console with BD, it's already there.
