I don't know why you bring up Ubisoft here, what you are trying to prove here is that "Nintendo abandoned the hardcore" is true. Ubisoft is irrelevant.

The definition of "abandon" is to give up something or to leave it completely behind. If there are still commercials for games like SSBB and Mario Kart Wii it proves that Nintendo still cares for the core market. The Wii Fit ad campaign is massive, yes. But the core games are still advertised and more importantly, they are still being made. Thus the term "abandon" doesn't match reality.

What do the sales of Zelda, SMG, Metroid Prime, Mario Kart and SSBB prove? That Nintendo's core market is still as healthy as last generation. Actually the sales of all these games exceed the sales of the previous games in their franchises, so Nintendo's core market is doing even better than before.

You are trying to prove that "Nintendo abandoned the hardcore" is true. Try again.

OK,

- Forget about abandonning since I used this word because you used it. After all, it is not what I want to show.

- About the sales of Zelda, SMG, MP : of course they are good and better than the last generation since they are released on the overhealthy, overhyped, Wii and not on the failling Gamecube !!! That is not my point. No need to bring it here.

- About Ubisoft, well, if the Wii was all about hardcore, they will made hardcore games on it. But it is NOT ! So they make casual games. Since the Wii is made by Ninty and since is supported by Ninty, the Wii is casual because Ninty want it to be casual. That is why talked about Ubi here.

- Ninty still make hardcore games but they dont push them as strong as they push their casual games. Their are going for the casual market whatever you think (or hope). In this purpose, they are focusing on making casual games more than hardcore games and others devs follow the same trend.

Conclusion : Sony is pushing their hardcore games on the front (see all their ads) while Ninty is more pusing (a lot more) their casual games because they want the casual market.

About Sony and the topic : they could cancel 5 hardcore games and make 5 news casual games, they will still look a lot more hardcore than Ninty...

libellule, waiting for Wiimusic and Nintendogs ...
