The larger companies become, and the more diversified their business becomes, the more the end up having business dealings with supposed rivals. Companies like Nintendo and Google are neither allies nor rivals because they don't share any business interests, whereas companies like Sony and Microsoft are both allies and rivals because they share so many business interests.
