Firstly, I don't like the term "pirate". I mean, they aren't out sailing the high seas jacking Spanish gold fleets, they're sitting at a desk with a shirt and tie burning CDs. Not very piratey if you ask me, calling them Pirates surely makes them want to do it more. :D
Personally, I never buy pirate DVDs, because the quality is awful. You couldn't give them away as far as I'm concerned. Music is different because the quality isn't lost. I have to admit to downloading songs now and again, but if I download several from one band/artist, then I will buy an album or something. I may be strongly anti government/tax/rules/authority/any other black leather coat cliche going :), but I do believe creative types should be rewarded for their work. For the same reason, I do not ever buy pirate games and I only buy second hand if there is literally no other way to get the game. Which never happens.
