Yes it is bad to do but $60 a game is a hit on my college wallet. I have yet to play any dl'ed games but emulators are something I have played especially for games that are out of circulation, rare consoles, etc. BTW, I do buy games and have enjoyed supporting the industry, not so much GameStop, though.
