Regardless of what many people on here say, I consider RE4 and the upcoming RE5 to be survival horror. Lets see, it's a horror game and you're trying to survive. Yup, sounds like survival horror to me. Who says that a survival horror game has to be slow paced and limited ammo? I don't see why it can't be faster paced with more action. In my opinion, there can be variations of the genre. Look at fighting games for example. We now have mostly all 3D fighters where 15 years ago, it was all 2D. Despite that, they're still fighting games just like they were then but just different.
I could see how RE4 could disappoint fans of the older style ganes but I don't think that RE4 shouldn't be classified as survival horror because it's more action packed.
I'll come up with something better eventually...
