"Additionally, you can control who is allowed to use your levels by setting a difficulty rating and/or giving away invite keys." Doesn't sounds restricting at all? |
This is all used for example I have no intentions of doing this but... what if I...
Wanted to make a 2 girls one cup level?
Or a racist KKK level? With hoods and cross burnings and maybe some people in a tree? Or maybe some Nazi's doing the Sieg Heil with concentration camps?
What if I wanted to make a gay porn level?
Now what if I didn't want everyone downloading it just my friends...
Doesnt sound restricting to me just more customizable (Which means more features. Which means less restricting on content.)
Now I have a right to make those levels if I so choose. And I'd feel more secure to make them if I could limit others from using it.
There is one good reason for restricting people your content.
Now what if you had a level with multiple stages. That told a story....(Maybe not a story but something that followed each other and progressed) but if you couldnt limit it how would they progress?
Well, make it so that as the user completes your level they can go on to the next without skipping one.
Again more freedom on how to use your level.
What if there was a inside joke that all your friend would find hilarious but you know the general public wouldnt get it and down vote your level if they did. And you just want your friends to be the ones playing.
What if you werent done with the level and you wanted to give you level a "beta test" to get feed back so you can improve your level?
Many reason why restrictions isn't restrictful and can actually help the game.
Also you guys are acting as if every single level will be like this (I bet most wont be though) just like people are acting like level building is the only thing about the game.
