This analysis is just as silly as those that are comparing the PS3 to the PS2 and PS1 launches to prove that the PS3 is not doing that badly.
You can't just take the 2 system launches in a vacuum. The xbox started after the PS2 was already entrenched as the dominant console. Of course it sales were not going to be very high. The 360 on the other hand, had the market to itself for a year and has many more games of interest to the Japanese. The fact that it is only 2:1 over the xbox is pretty pathetic actually. Soon it will be outsold 3:1 by the PS3. I doubt it will even get to 1 million throughout its lifetime.
