IGN never said anything about lack of orginality(unless you are referring to the story not breaking any new grounds thing) and they said that ToV actually has plenty of times where you can go to places other than where the main plot tells you to.

And about the complaint they had about the skits.  Newflash for them, those skits are no more dated than LO's Thousand Dreams
