Are they all pumped? What negatives have been said? Where does LBP sit on all their charts? Where has it been ranked at the recent game shows? All these questions have answers that are very, very positive and I think most are aware of this too. So, why are there still many doubters? -well it seams as it gets closer and closer there are less and less to nit pick about LBP and most of the nit pickers then only focuss on the level creator, saying it's not for CG. What about the huge stand-a-lone game with over 50 levels and short stories, [which i would assume that they make like short, famous movies] with boss battles at the end of each? I have said this before and I will say it again, LBP without the level editor would be a success and a killer game alone. So, isn't much more in this case better? |
I don't think the media focusing on the game is a good indicator of how "casuals" will react to the game, since the people previewing these games before us are pretty much the "hardcore."
Here's an interesting thought: take a look at all the biggest "casual" games of this gen (all by Nintendo). Wii Sports, Wii Fit, Wii Play, Mario Kart Wii, Nintendogs, Brain Age, etc. One thing they all have in common is reviewers, or the media, either were not very hyped for these games, or simply did not like them (check review scores). However, the "casuals" still ate it all up.
Anyway, my prediction is that the game will go on to be a moderate success - selling around 3-5 million, and not selling any more consoles than MGS4 did. Not bad at all, but certainly not a turning point of the console wars that some preach it to be. I'm sure I could be wrong, as this game seems like a hard one to predict, but that's my guess. Of course I'm going to buy the game either way, but again, people on this website aren't exactly casual.
