I could go into a political science lesson here. But just remember, sometimes it is the candidate who said he stands for X who is most likely to be able to do Not X. Because if he does it, as much as he was against it, then it must be OK.
(He here is used in general for He/She).
In other words, only Nixon could go to China (in the 1970s).
As for taxes, most new taxes that are being talked about, the way I understand it, are for those at much higher income brackets than I would say 99.9 percent of the posters here (250K). Something has to give after the last eight years of deficits. Of course, in an economic downturn, it is doubtful any new taxes will be enacted.
And as for majority rules, the Founding Fathers didn't think we could handle that ... so they invented the Electoral College. 2000 was one of the few times it did not work out that the popular vote candidate won the Electoral vote. I believe 1884 was the most recent prior. (The Founding Fathers also had Senators selected by state legislatures).

I am Mario.I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble. Wii Friend Code: 1624 6601 1126 1492 NNID: Mike_INTV |
