While I don't own a PS3, I would love for this to be true. But I feel that it is too good to be true.

I'm from austria so german is my primary language, and heise.de is probably the best german tech news page.

if i read the news article cited in first post then they explicitly wrote that reeves explained them that they will make singstar ps2 run with software compatibility on ps3 with a firmware update.  The article also mentiones taht reeves said that they might look into doing this for other titles in the future, but there is nothing mentioned about a generic compatibility.

i said allready a few weeks back that they probably will go this way with software compatibility to build a basic solution and focus on making it work with special games (and then sell the games it works with on ps store). Especially the early ps2 games or games that did not really push ps2 hardware to the maximums will be easier to get workign in any software emulation.
