What was really retarded was not wearing leather/a helmet. I know some people who do well over 100 on bikes (granted, they're on the highway or out in the boondocks) and one who does wheelies at that speed. I also know one who crashed at that speed and got off with nothing but cuts and bruises. Know why? Wearing proper gear can be a life saver.
