those are probably dialogue scenes, which technically is in-game. It's just like in FFX, FFX-2 and FXII where the dialogue scenes were also better graphics.
As for Versus, is that the new design of the main character? Or is the suit just for that part of the game? I see his hair has a more charcoal grey look to it and less of a blue tinge. It is also styled differently.
