Microsoft paid fifty million dollars for two exclusive DLC packages. That would be twenty five million a piece. One would highly doubt that those packages are not worth every cent that Microsoft paid for them. That is enough money to cover the budget of two very good game on the 360, and enough money to cover the development costs for four average games.
I find the rumor very interesting in that it may prove what has been said earlier. That these expansions in fact will be closer to full fledged games. We have to remember this generation Grand Theft Auto will only have one game to it, so these packages are probably closer to a Vice City type of installment rather then what we have come to expect from other DLC.
Anyway I expect the game to have ten hours of story missions. A couple new online modes. A dozen new random encounters. Additional equipment, vehicles, virtual content, random encounters, and collection quests. Which should probably take the package over twenty hours of play. Which means it will probably be at parity with my price consciousness if it indeed is going to be at this price. Which is a dollar per hour of play. This is the most major factor in gaming purchases for me.
That said even if this is the price when it launches those who do not own a 360 should make themselves aware of something. The prices on Live will and do eventually decrease. Perhaps after six months on the market, and with its brother near release this content may go down to 1200 points, and perhaps a year after that it might be all of 800 points. Then maybe in two years you might be looking at free content, or something for less then 400 points. So if a price is too high for you then you can wait until it is right. Perhaps in the middle of next year when you are really craving Grand Theft Auto.
