Caveat one: the lag makes game play unplayable. I can't recommend this set up for anything but video capturing, and only if you were running the DVR as a secondary video source (not possible without additional signal splitting equipment anyway).
While I'm sure there are better capture devices that would result in less delay, for the price you end up paying, you would probably be better off just buying a small, cheap flat panel display.
