There should be a lot less "confusion" once hardware BC disappears completely.
All signs seem to indicate that the 80GB MGS4 bundle is the end of the line, and it's beginning to look like that bundle will be short lived, as in gone once the 160GB bundle hits retail.
Amazon is already marking it as a discontinued item, and with the 80GB Core, most consumers won't see the value in paying $100 more for a copy of MGS4.
Some have taken this to mean that we'll see a discount for the MGS4 bundle, but it's far more likely that Sony will simply stop production of the bundle altogether, along with the EE enabled MoBo.
It's going to be up to soft emulation if the PS2 is to have a future on the PS3.
