Fixed, and I would absolutely kill for that to happen. XD
I'd fix the Tony Hawk series. Loved it untill THPS4, after that it felt like it went downhill game after game.
First, no story. NONE. Easily the dumbest thing ever added to the series. No mini-games.
Knocking people off light fixtures with a remote controlled blimp that handles like a toaster with a wheel taped to it is not why we get Tony Hawk games. No BMX, or any vehicle other than your damn skateboard. There’s a reason BMX games don’t do as well as the THPS series, they’re not as much fun.
Cut crap like Sticker slap or Graffiti tag. It’s called a Wall-jump, and I want to grind the damn ledge, not spray paint it. Kill the slow-mo stuff. It wasn’t a bad idea, but I feel it makes for lazy level design. Less emphasis on areas looking cool, more on them being a good place to Skate. Plain levels like the School in THPS2 or the Airport in THPS3 feel are much better levels than some of the exotic places you end of visiting in the sequels.
Now let’s make some big and well designed levels with tons of great line possibilities and sick gaps, add back some insane old school objectives that are mapped out for you when you start, and let’s make a lot of them. Pick out a great soundtrack, and bring back some form of the competition levels. Also the score system needs some reworking, gaps should be just more than set values that add another 1 to the multiplier, pulling of certain difficult combinations of them should add some huge points, and more points for nailing longer more difficult tricks over them. And replays, those need to come back. I don't know if they added back were in THP8, but if not they need to come back in a big way. Saving replays gave me a ton of replay value for THPS3.
There, that’d be a nice step back towards a good Tony Hawk game.
