It's cool because it allows to justify some conventions JRPG gamers use.
Like that MMORPG are not counted in JRPG, because even if made by japanese, the concept of MMORPG itself is too western-like: basically grinding to no end.
Thus why the FFXI sales are pitiful, despite it being a roman numbered FF.

It confirms that DQ is the big seller in Japan, more than FF.
Also, it confirms that Star Ocean is a small series, on par or even smaller than Tales Of in Japan.

Finally, it clearly shows that SRPG are far more niche than traditional JRPG.
Too bad we don't have PS1 era, as it would show the best selling SRPG, which is FFT, around 1M units.

But it's understandable, as the company wasn't called Square Enix back then, but Squaresoft, then Square.
