The defintion of life as simply as I understand is not being dead (yes I know that sounds stupid) but people that argue self-awareness or thinking ability makes an organism any less of a life are being extremley ignorant.
A embryo is no different for a 15 year old boy in the way that they are both living things , contained in that embryo is the potential for a 15 year old boy or girl so wether or not they can think or not they are still living which is the distinction many people fail to make.
