I know scores really don't matter...but there are more people out there who look at a final score then read the review. Raichu is right; by how they scored it it should be getting an 8.8-9.0
Well whatever. All I know is I'm getting it and hope that it does very well sales wise. I'm just worried that low scores effect sales sometimes...

8.2 is not a low score. In fact, 8.2 is actually a fairly high score. Sales wise, well, it depends if Namco-Bandai actually use commercials for the game this time

I think he meant that when casuals see a game and see 8.2, the think, "Meh, I like to buy 9s."
We're talking about a very specific group here. The ones smart enough to look up reviews, but who don't know enough about the industry to acutally know about the "Tales of" series, or pretty much any jrpgs.
They're the ones who know the big headlines only, but couldn't tell you who Jaffe was, or if Mike Capps hates the Wii or not.
That group might have a small portion that would turn away from an 8.2, but to an internet smart, that visits this site, I'd imagine that the 8.2 would make their mind up in the other direction, and could actually gain the game a few sales.

Thats what I'm afraid of. Internet savvy people are far in the minority, and tales loving 360 owning smart internet users are in the far minority ;) Score was actaully the reason I didn't get Lost Odyssey a while back.

Ever played Mass Effect? That game was rated by reviewers as AAA and I personally didn't like it that much

Well it deserved those high scores though =p. But it is hard to compare to a JRPG.

The story was great and the VA couldn't have been better but other than that I am not seeing the hype for ME. The combat sucks IMO and there are a lot of technical issues. It just seemed like it only got high scores because of its hype

Yeah the story is great but one thing that a lot of reviewers loved is the option to change the story and make decisions. A lot of those decisions have effects on the game. I can replay the game again and have a total different experience and oh yeah I am sure the graphics were also a reason for the high scores. Yeah it has technical issues but it doesn't really ruin the fun I have with it, games of those sizes always have technical issues.
