OP

you gave yourself your solution in your last sentence. Releasing a bunch of "good" games in a short period of time only sabotages individual game sales. The development companies then won't make a profit, and then....well....goodbye 360 as a viable platform for big budget games.

Halo 3, COD4, Bioshock, Assassin's Creed, Mass Effect, GH3, Rock Band, and Orange Box say Hi.

most of them are multiplatform.

And ALL of them sell better on the 360.  Whats your point?

Being multiplatform is irrelevant. But where is your proof that all those games sold better on 360?

For 360 vs PS3 they're right here on this website.  For 360/PC you could almost guarantee that Assassin's Creed, Mass Effect (6 month timed exclusive), and GH3 sold more copies on 360.  Articles from Activision would almost certainly put sales of COD4 in favor of 360 as well.  The only uncertainties would be Bioshock & Orange Box.  I'd almost surely give Orange Box sales to PC (valve, duh, plus existing copies of standalone games separately on PC) .  Bioshock sold 77,000 copies on PC in August vs. ~500k on 360.  Granted this is only US and Europe is very PC oriented but I doubt it could close a gap that large.  Austrailian Sales charts (while not a huge market) show a similar trend with Bioshock 360 vs PC.
