I say that nevermind destroying game companies. Game companies should destroy fanboys. Matter as fact, it could be like an olympic sport. Sony could put free copies of Halo 3 in bear traps, MS could make a pit and cover it with grass and put copies of Zelda or Mario games on it, Nintendo could put an early release copy of LBP on an altar and have arrows shoot from the walls leading up to it, Indiana Jones style.
It doesn't pay to have a game company disappear, but OH how the world needs to be rid of all the effing fanboys!
As I have coined, save the industry, kill a fanboy.
