We just got the hot word from Neversoft's Brian Bright, and we have some big Guitar Hero World Tour news: A new peripheral is coming. The new periph. is specifically for the game's Studio mode, to help you make music, and while Bright wouldn't go into detail about what it will be, we are speculating that it will be a keyboard. Again, not for use in the game, but for use in the game's studio. We think it'll be a keyboard because, simply, that's the best way to control music input... but, hey, we might end up being wrong. Look for an official announcement in the upcoming months. We'll let you know more when we know more. |
I actually called this extra peripheral a couple of days ago in a conversation I was having with Naz on Steam. My gut feeling at the time was that it was going to allow the importing of songs from professional editing software. There have been rumors that some big names who have already had a chance to get hands on with the game expressed an interest in using it as an anonymous feedback platform for their own songwriting. I think a keyboard is actually a likely way to implement it but I'm not sold on it yet. Again those are rumors, but I did call the peripheral.
Whatever it is, I think the fact that they are releasing a peripheral specifically around the music creation system should give an indication as to how much effort they are putting into make it a legit way to create music.

More Guitar Hero World Tour news coming at ya: Straight from the source in Leipzig, Germany. Here's what we know about the game's online ranking system: It will work similarly to Call of Duty 4's prestige system, where points will be alloted for doing well within the game. There will be 50 levels to attain, and each can be flipped five times, for you ultimate-rockers out there. The levels will be "redeemable" for in-game items like new instruments, hairstyles and clothing, so almost RPG-ish element to it. No word on whether online Guitar Hero World Tour will have a ranking system based on these stats, but it wouldn't be surprising at all. |
And for those who don't care too much about how songs are going to be created in the editor there is news that they are implementing a ranking system inspired by the popular CoD4 rank/perk system. This should add a whole new dimension of addiction to the game =P
