I really dont get why people take the sales in August and stretch them out the entire year.

For instance:
Last year the 360 sold about 3.5 million from January to September 07, and then sold almost 5,000,000 for September to December.

This year, the 360 has sold around 4.5million since January.

Last year about 60% of the 360 sales came AFTER August. So it would, following the same patters, sell about 6.5 million consoles this winter.

The PS3 up til now has sold 6 million consoles. Following the same pattern, it would sell around 9 million consoles this winter.

Now that being unrealistic for many reasons, I would put the PS3 at closer to 7-8 million consoles this winter and the 360 at about 5.5-6.5 million consoles this winter.

Exact science? No. But you can see that saying the PS3 will outsell the 360 at the same rate of 20,000 consoles a week is kinda stupid. If this pattern of the PS3 outselling the 360 continues then we may very well see the PS3 cut 2,000,000+ off of the 360's lead from September to December.
